Internet Explorer 8 and XP SP3

I just upgraded to XP SP3 because SP2 will not be supported soon.

I was running Internet Explorer 8 before and now it will only run with "add-ons" disabled. How do I get it back to normal mode to run with add-ons?

I have restarted my computer, but that doesn't change anything.

In Add/Remove Programs, Windows Internet Explorer 8 doesn't give me any "remove" option, so I can't even remove IE 8.

Please help....

Thanks for your suggestion.

I was actually able to solve the problem by removing " -extoff" from the target location of the shortcut. It seems to work fine now.

Have you tried re-enabling add-ins, one at a time, to see if you can find the one causing the problem?

Read this from Microsoft about removing IE8. You probably need to follow the "alternative instructions for XP". And you should probably manually set a System Restore point before you remove IE8, just to be safe. :emotion-5:

Then reboot and try  reinstalling IE8 again.

Unfortunately you cannot uninstall IE-8 once you have installed SP-3 with IE installed.  To avoid that you must uninstall IE-8 before doing the SP-3 update.

The only other thing I can suggest is to go here and see if resetting IE will help:  Resetting IE-8.
