how to stop 'clicking noise'

I have to keep my volume turned all the way down to avoid hearing the clicking noise on my laptop mouse. But then, I have to turn it up to hear anything else! How can I stop that noise without turning the volume down? I dont like to hear any noises when Im using the touchpad, or when Im going from one webpage to another.  Is it possible to do fix this?

Does anyone else have this problem?

Control panel, Sounds and Audio devices, Sounds tab. Activities that have sound associated with them show a loudspeaker icon.  I'm not sure but the one you want to remove might be the sound under Windows Explorer, start navigation (you can test the sounds to find the one you want to remove). When you find it select None in the sounds dropdown menu  (it's at the top). Then save the new sound scheme (any name you like), click apply,OK..
