How do I identify and transfer data files from the old computer to the new one?

Hi

I've got two new computers,  a laptop and a desktop.  I want to transfer data files,  such as e-mail messages,  address book,  internet favorites,  from the two old computers to the new ones.  How do I identify those files that are involved and second,  what's the best way to transfer them,  i.e.,  copy and paste or what?

Thanks in advance,

macmonk,

To transfer favorites either go to File|Import and Export in IE and export them to removable media or simply copy the Favorites folder (in C:\Documents and Settings\Your account) to removable media then paste it into the corresponding folder on the new one.

If you use Outlook Express for email see this. If you use Outlook go to File|Import and Export and export to a *.pst file on removable media.

Or, simply run XP's Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.  Just use the Custom option to transfer what you want.  Works great.
