Help - Screensaver will not come on

I just recently purchased the XPS 210 and I love it....much improved over my old emachines cpu from college!  Only one problem and I cant figure out how to solve it....my screensaver never comes on...I have selected a screensaver, of course, and its supposed to come on after 5 minutes but it never does...I've tried the old restart the cpu but that didnt work either.
Can anyone help me out...why doesnt my screensaver come on when its supposed to?

You have a program running in the background that is preventing the screen saver from engaging. I had the same thing with a new XPS machine last year and called tech support for the fix. If you have windows media edition it is probably one of its programs. If you have some computer knowledge you can try this.
Click start, run and type in msconfig then go to the start up tab. You can uncheck each program one at a time then reboot to find the one that is causing the problem. Change the screen saver startup time to one minute so you won't have to wait to long to find the problem. Since your machine is new it will reboot fast. You should have a pad and pencil handy to keep notes. Start with some of the media programs first, the one that caused my problem was called dvd launcher.
good luck

Do you have a Microsoft Wireless mouse? If so this is your problem.
