Editing the All Programs list

I want to delete some folders from the "All Programs" list, but not get rid of the actual folders -- and the programs they hold. Can this be done?
Thanks

Steve, that's what I had originally thought, but many aren't shortcuts. Deleting them puts the program itself into the recycle bin.

Since nearly all of the programs listed in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Start Menu\Programs are short cuts, deleting any of these shortcuts will not delete the actual programs nor the folders containing these programs.

You were right. Most everything IS a shortcut, even w/o a shortcut symbol. Thanks again.

That would only happen if you installed the programs to the ....\startmenu\programs folder.  Did you do this?  If you right click on a program in that folder and select properties, does it indicate that it is a shortcut?  Of course if you delete the shortcut, then you would have to run the program from its .exe file in its original folder.
