Does video card memory REPLACE installed memory ram in Windows Vista limits?
I have TWO 9800gx2 video cards with 1gb each (2 total) running quad sli in my rig.
I have 4 gb of corsair dominator DDR3 installed.
In BIOS shows I have 4gb memory installed but my Dell system information (I have Windows Vista 32-bit) shows 1.7 gb of memory with 1.2 free before running any programs.
QUESTION: Is Vista counting the memory on my video cards towards Vista limit?
QUESTION: Anything I can do (configure) to make Vista use as much of my 4 gb installed memory as possible?
QUESTION: Will the current setup get me into trouble running some games and/or programs that see/and or use the 1.7 gb figure only?
Thanks for any help or explanations

#1 Yes this is common on 32 bit OS's
#2 No other thant upgrade to a 64 Bit OS
#3. More than likely not at all
The memory limitation on a 32 bit system is well documented. Like you suspect the bigges reserve is given to the Video cards. Only swithing to a 64 bit os will allow full us of all installed ram
