Could not get Service tag validated through https://www.dellvistaupgrade.com/default.aspx

Nedd some help. I could not get the https://www.dellvistaupgrade.com/default.aspx to validate my machine's service tag. I have purchased this machine recently and was not able to get the express upgrade through.

If you're having problems with the site recognizing your tag, contact them at 1-866-634-7426.
 
You can also contact Dell customer care at 800-624-9897.

I'm having the same problem..:smileysad:
I contacted Support like 5 times now and they keep telling me the same thing, that Support will send the info I gave them (Service Tag #) to the Tech people that are looking after the Vista Upgrade and they will enter my service tag number in there system, so the next time I visit the upgrade website I should be able to get the upgrade...well it hasn't happened yet and it's been since early December. I know for a fact my Service Tag number is Eligible for the Upgrade since thats what the Support People told me over the phone. I'm getting frusterated about this...I keep going round in circles...

Aaaron thanks for your assistance. I could not get any one on both phones. not to mislead you, I have purchased the machine outside the US. if you know the fastest possible way to get this issue resolved. will highly appreciate your assistance.

It seems that I will not be able to obtain a free upgrade to vista as I have purchased my machine out side the US.
 
Locally the resellers do not have direct dell support who can resolve my tag validation issue which  seem disapointing!
 
I really need to know whom should I contact to resolve this issue within middleast region. else consider my buy just another equipment on the shelf.

It seems that I will not be able to obtain a free upgrade to vista as I have purchased my machine out side the US.

If you bought it used I can understand, but if you bought it from DELL you should be able to get the free upgrade no questions asked. DELL is so far behind on updating the Service Tag numbers in there system, since I have been waiting for a month so I can enter my tag number successfully. If you think you should get the free upgrade then keeping bugging them, email and phone customer support.

SHOULD I EXPECT A REPLY OR SHOULD I RETURN THE MACHINE BACK TO THE RESELLER FOR THE UPGRADE????

At this point I suggest for you to get hold of dell and see what they can do, if you don't mind waiting on the phone for a long time (depends on when u call). If that doesn't work, call or go into the place where u bought the computer and tell them what's going on, and see if they will give you the vista disc for free or a discount. If they don't then return the computer and use that money to by a computer that already has Vista installed.

If you purchased the upgrade through a 3rd party or outside the regions listed here, https://www.dellvistaupgrade.com/faqs.aspx , you should contact the company you purchased the system from to determine the options that are available to you as far as purchasing a retail upgrade.
