What system do you have  ?  If you have a current system, you may have a restore function by Symantec on it, and can bring the programs back by restoring it back to day one.  You will have to have this on the system, and you will have to back up anything that you have installed, such as pictures, music etc, before you do this or you will loose it.

No, it does not back up your new files, pictures or music.  You have to burn them to a cd or dvd burner.  If you have this Symantec restore function, than it will restore your system to the day it was shipped from Dell.   Now, if you got the Operating CD by chance, than you may not have this Symantec restore feature on your system.  Its easy to check

Dim 4400 ( 3 Years 8 Months, going strong )
2.6 Ghz 400 FSB
1 Gb 2100 DDR Memory
20 Gb hard drive 7,200
Windows XP Home - SP-2
Leadtek 6600 GT
48xCDRW
17 LCD ( 1703 FP )
250 watt power supply

MarkASparks,

No, the two disks you have contain Windows XP and drivers for your system. Nothing else is included. You may be able to get the CDs for your installed applications through the links in this post.

Thanks Denny,

I guess I am going to be on the phone for ? hours once again until I find someone that is willing to send me what I need.

I don't want most of that junk that ships with the machine but there are some programs I would like to have, and the fact that I paid for them.

I am curious, since my machine came with the SoundBlaster Advanced MB Audio Upgrade integrated audio which is a software only upgrade do I have to request this also?

Thank You Again!

Mark

uh, that is one reason I am having to reformat and clean install Windows because the first week I had  the machine system restore worked, I created restore points.
Once I started having problems I went to system restore and it says "there are no restore points", well I know that there were some before it crashed because I created them.

Check to make sure that you have system restore turned on:

Go to system restore window,

Click on System Restore Settings,

Make sure the checkbox for "Turn off System Restore" is not checked.

From time to time, system restore breaks down, and becomes corrupted, and the only solution is to turn it off, than back on again, which usually works.  This happens to many including me, but you don't have to do a system restore to fix it in most cases....
