Bluetooth Error message on Latitude D620

I'm trying to get Bluetooth to work on a new Latitude D620, but I'm not having much luck. If I right-click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray, I get a menu of options. Some of them work... I open open the Bluetooth options for example. When the OPTIONS window opens everything appears normal. I can even run the diagnostics and it passes and finds another bluetooth device I've enabled (an Apple Macbook with bluetooth).

If I try to open the Bluetooth Settings or Add a New Connection, I receive the following error:

"The program is not installed properly."

I get this even after I re-installed the bluetooth drivers and software. I can't find the error in Dell's knowledgebase or on Google.

I removed and attempted to re-install the Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba, but the process fails with this error: "The wizard was interrupted before Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba could be completely installed. Your system was not modified."

Any ideas? Maybe I'll see if Toshiba offers a newer version of the software on their web site.

We have another Latitude D620 with the same problem.

Thank you,

Sean

I'm not sure of what driver version you presently have installed... but the latest "Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth" driver version (v.v4.00.22D) for the Latitude D620 is "here".

You might want to follow the update/install guide from this post ("click here")... for this driver.

There is a newer "Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth" driver version (v.V4.01.03(D) - "click here") listed... but it's listed as the initial release for the "XPS M2010" system. So, I'm not sure if it can be used with your system...

Another user got rid of the Toshiba stack and preferred the Widcomm stack he installed ("click here").

Aloha,
Rod

I know this is an old post but it seems fitting to add what I have found since it appears that this problem is ongoing and others are also experiencing it when you install the latest firmware and software from the driver download page (R117967.EXE).

I just recently ran into the same problem when upgrading to R117967.EXE and no matter what I did I kept getting stuck on the same message "Press Fn-F2 to turn on Bluetooth" during the software install.

It seems the firmware actually goes OK but leaves the card in an inaccessible state.  So, if you let it run to that point, cancel out and let it finish, then run the driver/software from Toshiba http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php it then runs and installs fine.
