A Buzzing noise

Often, when my computer works hard, it makes a buzzing noise...

Can I stop this?
Is it a virus?
What did I do?

Thanks.

Well everybody has their word for a sound, since I cannot hear it, I make assumptions as best I can.

I suggest Opening the Laptop to try and locate the sound, If you do not feel comfortable with doing this, take it to a repair shop.

Ok, well, what about a sort of "crackling" noise?

Is that bad?

Read this article, as far as crackling, I don't know, computers make all kinds of noises, hard drives, fans, CDROMs all make noise.

I had a similar strange buzzing/crackling noice with my old laptop and it turned out it was the speakers.  We opened it up and disconected the speakers.  It got rid of the noise, but it also got rid of sound on the laptop (except with earphones).
