How to replace the default vxrail manager 4 certificate

Hi,

I'm looking for a document the describes how to replace the default, not trusted VXrail manager 4 certificate with a trusted certificate. I'm mean the certificate from https://vxrailmanager.

Hi all,

I opened a case with EMC regarding this about a month ago.  They are still working on the documentation.  I got this from the support rep last week:

"So I have an update. It is still in testing and they are planning on releasing it at the same time as the 4.0.300 code level upgrade. The target release date is the end of this month but that can change. I will keep pushing to get updates and ETA's and hopefully by the end of the month we are ready to roll. "

Hi,

That's not my question. For now EMC Support answers that it's not tested and supported to replace de default certificate.

There is a procedure in SOLVE that describes what has to be done. It is close to the procedure listed by zbot and it is tested and supported by VXRAIL engineering (for whatever VXRAIL version SOLVE procedures are written). If someone in VXRAIL support states to you that this procedure is not supported, please respectfully have them escalate the case to the Escalation Engineering team and they will clarify and confirm my statement.

The only couple of caveats that I would want to mention is that SOLVE procedures are written for specific VXRAIL versions, so depending which version of VXRAIL you might be using, you may or may not need to upgrade. Also, I am not 100% sure if that procedure is or is not exposed to the end customers. If it is exposed to the end customers, you may not even have someone in support to assist and may be able to do things on your own.

In any case, please report back once you have gone through the process and let us know how it went.

Hi,

I've searched in Solve a few minutes ago. The only procedure I've found is how to replace the default ssl vcsa certificate not how to replace the default VXrail manager certificate.

Cheers!

Starting from the VxRail Manager Support page, I found this KB article: https://support.emc.com/kb/486959 , which provides the detailed procedure, but does not list VxRail v4.0 in the tags...

Hi,

I found this article also, but it's not answering my question.

It sort of does - if you read through the details, you will see that vCenter is referenced instead of VxRail Manager. But the context implies the VxRail Manager, so I think it's a simple typo... Worth flagging, though...

Our EMC rep just emailed and said the documents are in Solve Deskpadding-">Good news got the path to the procedures in Solve. Also good news it has both the VxRail and vCenter cert replacement procedures. You will have to upgrade to 4.0.300 which I can assist with if needed.

It's in Solve under 'How To' Procedures > 'How To' change other VxRail cluster settings > v4.0.300 > and its the "replace the VxRail Manager SSL certificate" as well as "change the VxRail vSphere Components SSL Certificates for Internal vCSA"
