VPLEX (VNX LUN Expansion)
I have VNX5300 under VPLEX. My VPLEX is running 5.1.3. One of my LUNs is 500GB and we are going to expand it to 800GB. It is pretty easy to do it without VPLEX. We can just expand the LUN under VNX and rescan on the windows host. Now it seem like under VPLEX, even LUN has increase 800GB the size was not recognized.

What you have done will not work with a VPLEX.
If you want to go from 500gb to 800gb you must
Create a 300GB lun on your storage, claim it on the VPLEX, create an extent, and create a device. Do NOT create a virtual volume.
Go to your 500gb Virtual Volume. Select "Add Capacity" and choose your 300gb device.
Now you have an ugly 1-to-many disk, but your host can now re-scan and see an 800gb device.
To clean this up, you'll want to create a fresh new 800GB lun and do a Data Mobility job to switch from your original 500+300gb virtual volume to your single 800gb lun.
It sucks. But that's how you have to do it.
