VPLEX & Recoverpoint

Hi there,

I'm a total Vplex noob and I'm trying to read up on it but I'm struggling to get the basic architecture as the whitepapers I've read are quite high level.

My main question is where Recoverpoint comes into the equation?

Also if anyone can direct me to some good deep dive whitepapers on the subject it would be more than appreciated.

Many thanks,

Ed

Hello there,

Yes we have some excellent documentation for the solutions on how the integration of the RecoverPoint splitter into VPLEX. I have attached a great White Paper that might help you along. You should have connectivity to the Powerlink support pages.

Feel free to ask questions.

What exactly are you asking for?

VPLEX is a write splitter for RP.

2 things to note if you're using VPLEX+RP.

1. Virtual Image Access is NOT available.

2. You CANNOT expand a lun that is in a consistency group. You'll have to destroy the CG, grow your lun on the VPLEX and then re-create the CG.

Thanks for getting back to me, so basically you can use VPLEX with and without RP. What would be your preference?

Uhh well it depends if you want to use RP or not. If you have a VPLEX, the VPLEX needs to be your write splitter.
