VPLEX Read-only user?

Hello,

Is it possible to create a read-only user in VPLEX? From the security guide there doesn't seem to be a role associated with read-only, rather just a "user" which has some privileges.....curious how it can be locked down further.

And to take is a step further...has anyone had success doing this with an LDAP user?

thanks!

I'd like to know the same. Ideally, if only to run automated scripts to collect info via RESTAPI, but not have to use a heavy duty user account to do so (audit issue).

Assign monitor role to the user.

(Steve - The Unisphere for VMAX (and SYMCLI) allows you to assign EMC-provided roles. There is no such equivalent for VPLEX security, at least not at this time and none that I am aware of)

I have been told this is not possible today and a roadmap item for 2016....

Hello, is it now possible to assign role (for example Read-Only but not admin) to a new user account in Vplex 5.5 ?

According to the Security guide for Geosynchrony 5.5 you can't have a user account that is read-only; a read-only role is available in 6 though (not that that will help you now).  The closest you can get to it would be to create a "user" account.  Here's what the security guide says user accounts can do:

user • Access to the management server

desktop, VPlexcli, and Unisphere for

VPLEX GUI

• Restricted access to management

server native functions

• Read-only access to log files

The security guide is bundled in the 5.5 documentation portfolio: https://support.emc.com/docu61212_VPLEX-Release-5.5-Documentation-Portfolio.pdf?language=en_US
