VPLEX 5.5 Service Password Change

Given the new 5.5 requirement to change the service password for VPLEX, it states in all the guides to update this password with EMC for remote access, yet it doesn't state how....is there a preferred email/method for doing this? Send an email to the account team? Open an SR? Perform an action through ESRS (if installed)?

I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to have this password updated and validated by EMC so there is nothing lost in communication and I haven't found a process or contact email in any of the new guides yet.

Open an SR and have them do it via ESRS.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question   That's the sort of thing I'd advise our TAM.

Interesting though, as if they need to do anything remotely they could just use the 'secret'/backend root credentials, same as what they use to reset your admin password if a customer lose them or whatever... (Happened to me !)

I don't need to change the password on the array, we would be doing that during the install/upgrade - I just need to update them on the new password in case they ever need to get in remotely.....how does the password get captured and saved persistently in an SR? I would have thought something like site notes in ESRS or something would be the preferred way to go, but EMC has nothing listed in their documentation to dictate the best way to make the change....opening an SR seems like alot of SR's will be opened in the future and I'm curious how they will get saved that way when support needs to dial into the array.

Yeah - I agree they can definitely back door it with root. I just find it odd that it is spelled out everywhere to send the changed password (that you are forced to change) to EMC and there is no real medium of sending it documented.....I guess I will go the SR route for now and update the thread if I find a better resolution.
