Monitoring VPLEX virtual volumes(physical storage from VNX 5500)

Hi all

I am trying to set-up setup a monitor for virtual volumes in vplex using monitor create command. I am confused in how to specify a particular virtual volume as the target.

i used the command

VPlexcli:/> monitor create -p 30s -n VirtualVolumeMonitor -d  director-1-1-A,director-1-1-B -s virtual-volume.ops,virtual-volume.read,virtual-volume.write -t ucsb-vnx-vwoppharmsql01_data

its giving an error :

monitor create:  Evaluation of <

                 ucsb-vnx-vwoppharmsql01_data>> failed.

cause:           Command execution failed.

cause:           Failed to set value for option --targets.

cause:           Could not find appropriate contexts matching '[ucsb-vnx-vwoppharmsql01_data]'.

here "ucsb-vnx-vwoppharmsql01_data" is the virtual volume name i want to monitor.

Please help... Thanks

Hi,

Try using the full path to the virtual volume. Something like: /clusters/cluster-1/virtual-volumes/ucsb-vnx-vwoppharmsql01_data

Hi

I am trying create monitors on VPLEX for Storage Resource Management monitoring tool - watch4net. I came across two different commands from CLI guide -> monitor add-file-sink and report create-monitors and i am not really sure what to use. Although i believe it wont impact the VPLEX if we have extra monitors created. Can someone suggest me on this

Thanks,

Damal
