metavolume move to a new array

Hi community,

I need to move my meta-volumes from an old array to a new one. I can't find the right procedure in Solve ... When I try to use meta-volume create (to use meta-volume move after), it tells me that I need to have my 2 storage volumes on different arrays. Well, I have only one array (and the original one was also built this way). What am I missing here?

Any help is appreciated ...

Thanks!

I had to do the same about a month ago, I ended up contacting EMC support to assist as I could not find the correct procedures in Solve or the support site.

Hi,

It's in VPLEX Adminstration Guide in Meta Volume section.

     - create

     - Backup

     - Moving

What's in the admin documentation doesn't work, hence my post ...

What I ended up doing, that EMC support couldn't find:

- create the new metavolumes on the new storage

- remove one old copy of the metavolume (detach-mirror)

- attch the new copy (attach mirror) and let it sync

- redo with the second copy

- reconfigure the daily metadata backup to use new storage volumes on the new storage

- retire old volumes

hope this helps
