EMC VPLEX Microsoft Advanced Feature Support
What advanced storage integration features does VPLEX currently (=version 5.3) support for the Microsoft Windows 2012 R2 platform?
I have read the 5.3 release notes but have not been able to find any information on the topic.
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hi Havoc,
That would unfortunately be a no on all three of those things being supported by VPLEX.
If this is something you strongly desire I recommend talking to your account rep.
Thanks,
Gary

Hi Havoc,
I believe VPLEX supports WinSvr 2012 R2 as its previous version 2k8, 2012 on muti-pathing, Volume Manager, Windows Server Failover Clustering. What advanced storage integration features you expected?

Thanks for your response. The most important Win2012 storage integration features that I am looking for are:
- SMI-S provider support for SCVMM 2012 R2
- Offload Data Transfers (ODX)
- Thin provisioning space reclamation (UNMAP and TRIM)
Are any of these currently supported by VPLEX?

ODX and TRIM are very important and useful for us: we just upgraded the VPLEX to code 5.3 and I hope we can use these features. I've to ask to my personal EMC account team but maybe someone has the aswer right now ... ?!?
Unfortunately We had several problem and we had to disable these functionalities (I/O busy on HyperV ) :-(
bye

Hi - Ya, sorry, the three mentioned are not supported in 5.3, or any released version of VPLEX software.
I suggest filing an product enhancement request so our product management team is aware this is top of mind for our customers.
Thanks,
Gary
