Hard Drive not detected

Hi Dell Team,

 

Need a help with my system. It now does not boot and shows hard drive error.

Error: 0140

Validation: 81584

I tried reseating the hard drive and it gave the same error. Also, the hard drive is not detected in the in the BIOS. Tried online articles and tried changing the boot sequence and BIOS defaults. Still the same.

Looks like the hard drive needs to be replaced. Also, the right click on the external mouse does not work.

Hi,

I contacted Dell and had the hard drive replaced as it was not getting detected no matter what I did. You should try the same.

Before that, you could check the steps mentioned in the links to troubleshoot the issue before reaching out for any technical support.

If the drive is still not detected, contact Dell Tech Support and get it replaced depending on the system warranty.

What is the exact model number of your system? That would be needed to arrive at the proper type and size of drive you can install. But in general do not even think about another HDD. This is a perfect time to replace the HDD with an SSD. The speed and reliability far exceeds that of a mechanical drive. Assuming you cannot access the HDD at all then a clean install of Windows 10 would be in order. You can download the media creation tool here which will create a bootable USB drive. And this Dell support page will help with the correct order to install drivers.

no matter what we do dell has lock it is a shame dell do that.
