VNXe1600 does not get IP after re-initialization

Hi Everyone,

I re-initialized our VNXe1600 in order to clear the old configuration and set it up from scratch. It is at the firmware v.3.1.9.9570228. But after re-initiatialization started and the SP's rebooted, it does not get IP by any of available methods.

The SPs are blinking blue and orange every 3 seconds as expected. I have tried to:

- discover it by VNXe Connection Utility (being on the same subnet, of course)
- create a flash drive with config files and restart the device with the flash plugged in
- put it on the network with a DHCP server

none of these has helped to obtain an IP. Is there any way to set it up using a service connection or something like that? Or probably, reset it again without accessing to the WebGUI?

Finally, I have resolved the issue by myself. I found this article which describes how to connect to the console interface with the IPMI tool. After connection, I saw both SPs are in the service mode and I got access to some service functions including reinitialization. So run reinitialization from the console and the array appeared online after that! Also, the full diag (svc_diag --state=spinfo) showed that SP B has broken BBU which probably was the reason why the array didn't go online after the first reinitialization.

Hi, it seems like you have tried all of the methods for assigning an IP address. You may need to call phone support and have them try different methods with you live.

Unfortunately, our VNXe is not covered by a service contract anymore.
