EMC VPLEX and VMware support - HCL bug 2x "FC Metro Cluster Storage"
Hi folks,
as EMC was first to be on VMware's HCL http://www.vmware.com/go/hcl for "FC Metro Cluster Storage" and things are developping, I was checking on a question around support with VPLEX Geo - I am still not sure on this one, so if you can point me where I find clarification, please do so!
One catch at the moment on VMware's HCL: for some reason in the selection box on "Array Test Configuration" the criteria "FC Metro Cluster Storage" appears 2 times. And the results are different which one you select. EMC has been first certified with EMC VPLEX on a VMware HA stretched cluster and just in case you should miss EMC, it's still there and you need to scroll down a bit and select the other "FC Metro Cluster Storage" as well.
Hope this bug on the HCL will be fixed, so there is no confusion.

Hello everybody,
got a hint from Craig on my question - our support matrix is the reference: L (Local) and M (Metro) ar supported G (Geo) isn't for stretched clusters: http://elabnavigator.emc.com/vault/pdf/EMC_VPLEX.pdf
Regarding the HCL "bug":
The two different versions appear to two different use cases, the first one appears to be split controller configurations, i.e. a dual controller array spread over distance. The second one appears to be with Storage Virtualisation Devices in front of the storage, hence the array type is listed as SVD. In either case though Metro clustering is all that is supported, Geo isn’t supported by either EMC or VMware by the looks of it.
Might need still a comment / hint in the selection box as others might get confused as myself.
