What is the best way to replace an array online?

In a mainframe environment with a concurrent srdf configuration, what is the best way to replace one array with the new one with the least impact on online transactions? We have R1 array and two R2 arrays(they have R2/BCV also), Now we want to replace R1 array with a new one. Currently, we move data using mainframe utilities to move data from old R1 to new R1. Is there any best practice scenarios for replacing arrays without any impact on online environments? for example, can we move the OS nucleus online?
