{MOVED}Macafee

Hello How can i uninstall my Macafee? Plz do help

Hi Kinza,

There are 2 ways to uninstall the MacAfee:

• This is the basic and simple way. Click on Start> Control Panel> Program and Features>Add/Remove programs> Right click and uninstall MacAfee.

• Sometimes the above step is unable to uninstall it properly. In this case we can use the removal tool mentioned below.

Download and run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool:

a. Download the MCPR tool from: download.mcafee.com/.../MCPR.exe and, when prompted, save it to a folder on your computer.

Note: The MCPR tool is updated periodically when new products and updates are released. Always download a new copy of the MCPR tool before using it to uninstall your product.

b. Navigate to the folder where you saved the file, and double-click MCPR.exe.

Note: Windows 7 and Windows users, right-click MCPR.exe, and select Run as Administrator.

c. When you see the User Account Control dialog box, click Yes.

d. At the McAfee Software Removal screen, click Next.

e. At the End User License Agreement (EULA) dialog box, click Next to accept the agreement.

f. When prompted, type the Captcha information to validate to application security, and then click Next.

• If you have Family Protection installed, type your Administrator user name and password, and click Next.

• If you cannot authenticate, follow the on-screen instructions to obtain an uninstall code. If you do not have Family Protection installed, you will not receive this authentication prompt.

g. When you see the message Cleanup  Successful, restart your computer. Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until after the restart

Keep me posted with the status.

Hi Kinza,

Thanks for the reply. There was an ongoing issue with MacAfee updates since the last few days. However, they seem to have corrected it now. In case you are still facing the same issue, please try the steps mentioned below:

Restore the system to the last date when it was working properly >Click Start>Type System restore in the search bar>Restore to a previous date when the internet was working

You may also follow the link below to do a system restore.

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?&docid=DSN_347576&isLegacy=true#Issue1

Once this is done follow the steps mentioned below to fix this issue permanently.

  • Restart the system in Safe mode by selecting Safe Mode with Networking in the Advanced Boot menu(F8)
  • When Windows finishes loading in Safe mode with Networking, open Internet Explorer and go to http://mvt.mcafee.com
  • If the customer is unable to connect to the internet in "Safe Mode with Networking", proceed to the Last Step else continue with below steps
  • Click on Run to install the McAfee Virtual Technician (MVT)
  • After MVT installation completes, click Next to run the scan
  • Once MVT detects an issue with the McAfee software, leave the default option as AutoFix and click Next.
  • When the AutoFix completes, restart the system.
  • After the system restarts, Right click on the McAfee icon > Choose Update > Click on About and ensure that the DAT version is 6809 or above.
  • This should definitely take care of the issue.
Once this is done. Restart the computer and try to connect to the wireless.
