McAfee Changing My Incoming Mail Address

McAfee Anti Spam was changing my  incoming mail server address every time I would boot up.  I would receive this new log on that didn't recognize me since the server address was beig changed by McAfee Anti Spam.  Prior to that I would never have to log on. McAfee instructed me to remove their anti spam software. I did. E-mail functions now. BUT! Each day when I first boot up I click on the Outlook Express icon. The Outlook Expres connection icon shows up. I connect. I receive E-Mail. Then the Outlook Express connection icon shows up again. I cancel it and then everything functions OK until boot up the next day and that Outlook Express Connection window appears for the second time. Anti Spam must go into the incoming mail mail box before I receive any mail. I wonder if all files were removed when I REMOVED McAfee Anti Spam.  How is this determined? Or maybe something else is causing the problem. ANY IDEAS. It seems one of McAfee's auto load definition program updates  was faulty and caused all my problems.  All that McAfee said was remove  Anti Spam. Any Ideas on how to eliminate this annoyance.

Sherr,

I'm not familar with McAfee's anti-spam product, but try posting a HiJackThis log, and i'll see if something there might be causing a problem. If you need instructions on how to do this, post back.

Mike.

Mike,

Thanks for responding. What is HiJack This and how do you post to it?

Sherr,

It's a program we have user's run to analyze what's running on their systems. It helps to determine if something has gotten on their computer system that shouldn't be.

Download HiJackThis (an anaylsis and repair tool), unzip, then place it in it's own folder; like "C:\HJT". Run it, then click "Scan", then "Save log" (same button). when Notepad comes up with the processes running on the pc, click "Edit | Select all", then "Edit | Copy". Reply back to this message, then right-click in the message body and select "Paste"; post the message. Close both Notepad and HiJackThis. Don't 'fix' anything with it just yet, as most of what it reports is 'good'.
