I would like to see if we can contact the Clariion with the CLI on the Navi manager server.
On the Navi manager, please try executing this from a command prompt:
NaviSECCli.exe -user -password -scope 0 -address getconfig
The user name and password should be an account with global permissions.
The Ip address is the IP address of your Clariion.
1. On the Cisco switch, do you have the cimserver enabled? The cimserver uses port 5988 / 5989 by default for its communication. There is a link to help with setting this up in the help section of Data Collection in vFoglight Storage.
2) On the server with NaviSecCLI installed, is it the same server that vFoglight Storage is on? What OS is on it ? Is the firewall open for the correct port(443 by default)? Does the account have admin permissions on the box?
Mike
Did this help with your installation?
One more thing about the NaviSecCLI connection, if it is a domain account you are using to connect ot he Navi management workstation, you need to put the domain in with your user ID ( ie yourdomain\userID ). If it is standalone, you need to specify the server (ie IPAddress\userID or servername\userID). If you change the user ID in the accounts section you will need to reenter the password for that user.
Let me know if this helps.
Mike
For switch collection, the port value should be set to 0 initially unless your CIM server is set up to use a non-standard port (very unlikely). Validation will discover the correct port which will show up in the target after validation completes.
Mike, Thank you for your response the CIM server was not active on the switch. Our network group has enabled it and I was able to add it to vFoglight Storage.
Regarding NaviSecCLI.
1. NaviSecCLI is installed on the same server as vFoglight Storage.
2. vFoglight Storage and NaviSecCLI are running on the same box which is a Server 2003 Standard 64bit SP2.
3. The firewall is open on 443 and 80.
4. The account I am using is the defualt admin account to log into Navisphere. The account I am logged into on the server is a domain admin.
On the Cisco Switch, do you have the CIM server enabled?
----------------------
config t
no cimserver
cimserver enable
exit
show cimserver (for verification)
------------------------
You can also ping / telnet to the port to be sure you can reach it and it is responding.
Mike
The cimserver on the cisco switches usually crashes after a couple of minutes. We have a mds9221i and have to keep reenabling the cimserver to continue monitoring. Is there any plan to retrieve information from cisco switches using a different method such as snmp?
I repointed the application to use the Navi client on a different box and was able to connect the management hosts. Thank you.
Unfortunately, when I move on to the Arrays I get the following error:
Error 1:
Connection Failure: Socket connection to host on specified port failed: Usually due to inaccessible host: host offline or not accessible from this machine for some reason. Try to ping the IP address to see if the host is accessible;
I am able to ping the IP of the array , telnet on 443 and 80. In addition I am able to access the web interface from the vfoglight server.
I was able to succsefully run the command:
H:\>NaviSECCli.exe -user -password -scope 0 -address get
config
Sub-System Package Type: 3
Queue Full Status: DISABLED
Recovered Errors: DISABLED
Target Negotiate: Unknown
Mode Page 8: DISABLED
Periodic Error Report: N/A
The account you configured in vFoglight Storage to log into the management host is a local admin on the navi management server? It sounded like it was but I wanted to verify.
Could you turn the firewall off to see if that helps?
When you add the arrays, please set the port to 0. This will set it for the default port. The account you will use here is the global administrator account.
