PowerEdge R730 random SNMP traps from ESXi 5.5 after updating firmware

After updating to the latest firmware on a couple of my R730 ESXi nodes, I'm seeing a repeated SNMP trap coming from ESXi, not the iDRAC. Hosts are running ESXi v5.5, build 2718055, firmware is up to whats in the v541 bundle.

These are the traps I'm seeing, approximately every 1-4 hours:

Severity:Critical, Message:Processor 1 Status 0: Configuration Error - Assert, Severity: Critical, System: 4c4c4544-0059-5010-8059-b1c04f513232, Provider: RawIpmiProvider

Severity:Critical, Message:Processor 1 Status 0: Thermal Trip - Assert, Severity: Critical, System: 4c4c4544-0059-5010-8059-b1c04f513232, Provider: RawIpmiProvider

Severity:Critical, Message:Processor 1 Status 0: IERR - Assert, Severity: Critical, System: 4c4c4544-0059-5010-8059-b1c04f513232, Provider: RawIpmiProvider

On 1 node, it's Processor 1, on another it's Processor 2.I cannot find these errors anywhere within OpenManage, only in hostd.log on the individual hosts.

On one system, the updates were done via the iDRAC, on another they were done via a Repository Manager ISO.

Any suggestions on where to look or what these might be?

Following up on my own post, but this is supposedly resolved with iDRAC8 firmware v2.15.10.10_A00. I've updated the 2 servers doing this today, I'll update tomorrow if we don't get any extraneous traps.

Hi,

we have the same problem with our R730 ESX Servers. We updated the server with latest firmware, also iDRAC 2.15.10.10 is installed. The problem still exists. Any new ideas how to solve the problem?

greetings

We're having the same issues, but with an R630 running VMWare ESXi 5.5.0 U2 build-2068190 (DELL version).

OMSA version v8.1 - "OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-8.1.0-1518.VIB-ESX55i_A00"

BIOS version 1.3.6

iDRAC firmware version 2.15.10.10

We removed OMSA 8.1.0 and installed v7.4 - "OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-7.4.0-1196.VIB-ESX55i.zip". No more annoying notifications.

Unfortunately, no. I have an open case with Dell, they are aware of the issue and hope to resolve it with the next iDRAC/Lifecycle controller firmware update.

I was hoping they would have that out by now, but it doesn't seem like it.

Sorry, I spoke to soon. I'm still getting notifications after downgrading to 7.4. Argh.

I have the same situation here. R730, ESXI 5.5.0 build 2302651. OMSA 7. This esxi host has no issue for a year and all of sudden false alert shows up. IDRAC and OMSA didn't show any related log to these snmp trap.   I decide to disable snmp on esxi buy using esxcli system snmp set  -e false. On OME I monitor Dell hardware via IDRAC connection.

We have the same situation here. R730 ESXI 5.5.0 Build2302651. OMSA 7.4. System has these setup and work without issue for a year and all of sudden these snmp trap show up on OME every 30 minutes. Check IDRAC and OMSA log no related alert found regarding to these snmp trap. Decide to disable snmp by using command esxcli system snmp set -e false till Dell release new firmware which fix this issue. Monitor Dell hardware from OME via IDRAC connection.

It looks like the recently released iDRAC v2.20.20.20 firmware has resolved this on 1 node, at least for the past ~18 hours. I'll update the other node that is currently running v2.15.10.10 later today.
