Discovering a virtualized Oracle server
I am about to discover a virtualized Oracle server for the first time. The SP Installation guide says this:
The server must be under Host Configuration so the ASM Script (oracle-asmdisk. pl for Linux and ASMDiskDetection.ps1 for Windows) can be pushed to the server to retrieve the internal Disk/Array WWN information.
I have questions. If the database isn't configured as ASM,can I skip all of this? Since the server is a VirtualMachine, should I try to set up some sort of minimal discovery process? Is it even possible to set up a second Generic-RSC instance on a collector?

Hey Sam:
in the sp guide, on page 245, is states:
Under Centralized Management > Discovery Center > Devices Management, ensure that there is an entry for the same Oracle server under both Oracle Database and Host Configuration.
You could discover the vm as a physical host and it should then download the script.
Thanks
