Migrating VNX multi-protocol filesystems to Unity
Hi, customer has a large VNX File install base with many multi-protocol filesystems. We are undergoing a tech refresh to Unity XT File arrays and I wish to know if future releases of the 5.X code will support multi-protocol filesystems using the native file import feature?
Otherwise are there suggestions for a tool or method that can be used to perform this.
Thanks, Daniel

I dont think there is a step by step guide
You first need to understand the Unity multi-protocol options - see the Unity multi-protocol PDF manual
Then analyze what you are currently using on VNX and design your Unity config
For data migration itself you either use a 3rd party software like DataDobi or a combination of emcopy and rsync depending on your access policy
Other option would be to engage professional service

3rd party tool = data dobi miner ( there are licensing costs )
migrated VNX -> Unity with this, it does work, but its not click and go, a little bit of NFS knowledge is required as all your mount paths will change as the concept of VDM disappears - talk to EMC re dobi miner

yes - migrations like that arent a click and go since some things work differently
NAS servers on Unity are similar to VDMs on VNX but they are much more complete in terms of functionality and multi-tenancy
what did go away is the concepts of a global/physical data mover that also had access to all the VDMs data
But that wasnt by design - rather that VDM werent there in early Celerra
