Delete a SMB share on Unity 300

Hi All,

I have a couple of questions with respect to shares and permissions.

So the scenario is, I have created a file system called "corp_drive". On this file system I created a share called  "Test". The permission for the "Test" share was changed from its default (everyone) to specific users only. Now after a couple of days, I deleted the "Test" share. and created a new share called "Test-new". So my questions are:

1) When I create a new share called "Test-new" after deleting the old share "Test". Why do I see the data from the deleted share "Test" still being available on "Test-new".The local path for the old and new shares is "/corp_drive". Note that new share was created only after the old one was deleted.

2)The permissions on the new "Test-new" share should be the default "everyone" as per my understanding. But in my case the new share is having the permission that was assigned to the old deleted share "Test". Why is this?

Any assistance here would be great. Thanks in advance

if you need to delete a directory and its contents or modify the ACLs use a Windows client to so

I think this is basic Windows behavior 1) deleting a share only remove the ability to access the data via CIFS - it does NOT delete any data similar to Windows when you stop sharing a directory 2) most likely the ACL gets inherited from the directory above

Hello Rainer_EMC,

Thank you for the response.

Does that mean, to clear the data that is in the share and clear the ACL details, the only option is to delete the complete file system and re create a new file system and share?
