Latitude 12 7202 tablet - can't get past TPM change

I got a 7202 M-5Y71 and was resetting it, reinstalling Windows etc.. Getting Windows back up and running was no problem, but there is a problem I can't get past. It is probably because I do not have the keyboard. I reset the TPM to make sure it would be ready to go and get all the security set up on the tablet.

As the tablet boots up there is a notification about the TPM change, as I expected. It requires me to press either F10 or ESC to continue. I do have a simple USB keyboard plugged in, but it doesn't acknowledge any key press! It seems that the TPM message comes up before the keyboard is started. The message text is below.

I can't get past this message, so the tablet is now completely useless! Please someone from Dell do you have something that can get me past this? I am very experienced with configuring laptops and tablets from Dell, and I've never come across anything like this before.

---------- TPM message text ----------

A configuration change was requested to enable, activate, and allow creation of an operator authentication value that permits temporary deactivation of the TPM
This action will turn on the computer's TPM (Trusted Platform Module).

Press F10 to enable, activate, and allow creation of an operator authentication value that permits temporary deactivation of the TPM
Press ESC to reject this change request and continue

This unit is not under warranty; I bought it used. Fortunately though I was able to get past the screen by repeatedly attempting to enter BIOS Setup. Eventually I must have pressed the button at just the right moment.

This definitely feels like a design flaw to me.

Hi Zoidborg,

Thanks for posting.

Apologies that you are having difficulties with your tablet.

Are you able to enter the BIOS?  According to the manual, you should be able to adjust the TPM from there.  www.dell.com/.../system-setup-(bios)-options

Here is some additional information from the Dell knowledgebase:  http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=RF87D

I've tried, but the tablet does not respond to any buttons on the tablet either. It looks like it is starting to go to BIOS settings, but the message comes up still and blocks any further input no matter what I do.

Also note this is with the newest A16 BIOS installed. I don't know what else to do, there is apparently no way to influence the tablet with this TPM message up. I am not sure it would respond to the optional keyboard either; if so I would get one. The keyboard is probably a USB device itself similar to the keyboard that goes on the Venue 11 713x/7140 tablets.

I'm still not able to use the tablet at all in its current state :-(
