i tried to configure the e-mail service, but without any success.

i get always the  RAC0225 error.

What did i try:

DNS iDRAC Name: mail

Static DNS Domain Name: myionosdomain.de

SNMP and E-Mail Settings:

<Private data removed from public view. DELL Admin>

Gateway and DNS is set, i try different dns server, at the moment

gateway is local router

i ve no idea why i get always the f*** RAC0225 error.

i try although an different e-mail provider,

error was the same.

is it possible to get more information, why the email is not working?

just rac is not really helpful.

does the idrac7 support sending mail over ssl/tls?

Hi,

Here's an article on how to set email alert on iDRAC 7: https://dell.to/3ZeM4Yh

I see that you have already mentioned on iDRAC DNS settings, just make sure that the DNS is a valid domain name.

Next is the SMTP server settings and destination email settings. The DNS name will not be 8.8.8.8 Google DNS, it is the SMTP DNS name, usually users may get error when use FQDN, hence please try SMTP DNS IP address. I found this YouTube video as example on SMTP configuration, this is iDRAC9 but the SMTP settings are similar: https://dell.to/4d1olOx

Hello,
iDRAC 7/8 will not have a full set of security features required for current SMTP servers, it will not work. I found some previous conversation related to as well.

@DELL-Young E

Hello,

where can i get the information about the supported e-mail server respectively security supported protocols. only if i know which protocols are supported i can search for some provider who support such settings.

have anybody an other idea how the get the alerts via e-mail?

hutze,

The iDRAC7 supports several email protocols for sending email alerts and notifications. These protocols include SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), and IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface).

Now on a side note, seeing you had the RAC0225 error previously, is the server up to date on BIOS, iDrac, etc?
