DSU broken ?

I get this on all of our systems that are located all over the US.

DELL System Update 2.0.2.0
Copyright (C) 2014 -- 2023 DELL Proprietary.
Verifying catalog installation ...
Installing catalog from repository ...
Fetching dsucatalog ...
Could not download the catalog. Please check the configuration
Progress report is available at:/usr/libexec/dell_dup/DSU_STATUS.json
Exiting DSU!

I can run:

wget https://downloads.dell.com/catalog/Catalog.xml.gz

without issues.  Is the DSU repository broken ?

Hello everyone,

It appears that DSU has been restored, so it should be functional now.

Let me know how it goes.

Huckabeec,

While I am not seeing anything currently, but it may also have been intermitent. I can look into it for you, but would you confirm what type/model devices that are having the issue?

Let me know.

Tested DSU and also not working for me. PowerEdge R640. yum install dell-system-update is also not working and try to download 1.9.2 from DSU instead of 2.0.2. Also dsu cannot fetch the catalog. At the moment I update all of our PowerEdge R630 and R640 servers. It was working a few days ago. Update to 2.0.2 and also getting the catalog.

the only thing I see in tcpdump is my squid proxy trying to talk to this host, on 443

ec2-35-162-239-174.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com.

guessing this is where Dell stores its catalog?

Broken for me as well, running on Dell PE R640, Centos 7

unable to upgrade dsu rpm to latest, I tried installing dsu rpm manually, upgraded from dell-system-update 1.7 > 2.0 manuallly, but its unable to contact servers and fetch catalog,

root@qbtfr2:reports $ dsu

Does anyone know what IP it talks to , to get the catalog?

The reason is, our servers are inside datacenter (which has Websence firewall) and I proxy all yum updates via squid proxy that has internet access

if I proxy ALL outbound connectivity from the server via squid, then the fetch catalog works, so Im wondering if the datacenter FW is blocking outbound attempt to fetch catalog, but I have no idea where its trying to reach to, dont see anything in docs (and Im not seeing anything in tcpdump)

I don't think the type or model matters much for this issue. The yum repodata is missing for the os_independent repo:

Errors during downloading metadata for repository 'dell-dsu-os-independent':
- Status code: 404 for https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/os_independent/repodata/repomd.xml (IP: 143.166.156.113)
Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'dell-dsu-os-independent': Cannot download repomd.xml: Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml: All mirrors were tried

This sort of thing seems to happen once ever month or so, unfortunately.

If it needs to be followed from a landing page, https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/ points to https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/os_independent in the File list at the bottom (this is the same URL provided by the bootstrap.cgi).  Then you can pull up the repodata directory and see that it's empty.

It can be compared to the previous repository https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/DSU_23.04.14/os_independent/repodata/ which has the proper yum repo metadata.

Our systems are all Dell R440s.  Sorry for the late reply, I'm not getting the forum notices when someone replies here.

We are also seeing the issue.
We run a reposync to dell so our systems can patch from local repo but been seeing errors for the last couple of days downloading os_independent packages.

Looks like missing the repodata/repomod.xml files and also no packages in x86_64 area as noted by some others here.

The DSU is currently experiencing issues, but they are aware and working to resolve the issue. If I see a notification of it being resolved, I will let you know.
