Device Group (symdg) info migration
Hi,
I have a management server (unix) which used to run symcli commands against 4 VMAXs. I have migrated this server into another DC and attached with couple of new PMAXs (using GK devices) via SYMCLI. Now problem is that I am not able to get symdg's in new DC from this server which used to available in earlier with this server when it was running in earlier data center. Is there anyway I can take that SYMDG info into this server while its running in new DC and attached with different 2 PMAXs ? Pls note, I am able to access those 4 remote VMAXs via symcli from this server while it running in new DC.

From unix management host, I am able to access all the original VMAXs via symcli so that accessibility is fine. My concern is with symdg list which is not accessible for those VMAXs from remote data center unix host. Is there any way I can directly access those original VMAXs from management host which is now running in remote data center ? I tried symcfg discover but didnt help, its not showing me symdg list from original VMAXs.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for your question. Is the new DC a different subnet? Is it able to still work with the 4 original VMAX and not with the new PMAX or is only partially working with the old and not with the new? This thread may help with showing what is going on. https://dell.to/3UAsfpM

I have not been able to find another way to rescan beyond what you did. I assume it they aren't seen with symdev list either?

I assume the new server has access to the same arrays as the old one, otherwise why would you create about brining device groups to the new server. So if your new server does have access, then you can simply export them on the old server (symdg export) and import them on the new one (symdg import)
