SupportRecovery OS lost my data!!
So basically I used the SupportRecovery OS to reset my laptop right, then it said that it failed the data transfer and now I'm upset cause I had a completely functioning flash drive, so now most if not all my stuff is gone. I have completely fine flash drive, I had selected the option where I could keep my data... so I don't know. I feel like there's a way to get my stuff back cause in my flash drive, there's a folder named 'Do_Not_Touch' and it has these things here.
"D:\Do_Not_Delete\USMT\migstore\apps",
"D:\Do_Not_Delete\USMT\migstore\files",
"D:\Do_Not_Delete\USMT\migstore\settings"
Much Help needed,
Thanks

Hi Giveme:
I've never encountered this issue but you might be able to run the UsmtUtils command with the /extract option to recover the files from your compressed migration stores. See the Microsoft Learn support article Extract Files From a Compressed USMT Migration Store for instructions, and kudos to Ramesh Srinivasan for posting that suggestion in Gerald_18's 07-Mar-202 topic How do you retrieve information from USMT format? in the Microsoft Answers forum.

Just an aside, but there have been reports in the past where Dell users who did not store their personal data on the C:\ drive (e.g., on a different partition like D:\ drive) lost all their data when their SupportAssist OS Recovery software was updated to a newer version and I personally would not trust Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery to perform an emergency recovery on any system that stored data in a partition other than C:\ drive. See balji's 09-May-2021 SupportAssist deleted my partitions while installing OS Recovery as well as the Dell support article Install of SupportAssist OS Recovery Causing Data Loss for details about this old bug.
I removed all SupportAssist-related software, including Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery (also known as Dell SupportAssist Remediation) from my Inspiron 5584, and I now use disk imaging software called Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 *** to create emergency recovery media and the occasional full disk image of my hard drive that I save on a removable USB backup drive in case I ever have to perform an emergency rollback of my system to a previous date. I also perform a weekly backup of my all my personal data I store in C:\Users\<myusername> using an old utility called Karen's Replicator so I can quickly recover any personal data if it's accidentally deleted from my hard drive.
*** NOTE: Official support for Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 ended on 01-Jan-2024 (i.e., there will be no more feature changes or security patches) but Macrium has allowed users to continue using Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 after that date. There are many other free disk imaging programs like EaseUS Todo Backup and Paragon Backup & Recovery Free that might also suit your needs - see the June 2023 TechRepublic article Top 5 Free & Reliable Hard Disk Drive Cloning Software for more information.
