SA pops up every time computer starts, #2

Will this process also work for a dell laptop?

Years ago I flashed BIOs on another machine and it ruined the chip and I had to get a new motherboard.  I have a dell inspirion 15-7559 and have had problems.  Flashing the BIOS on this laptop will it cause my laptop to become a "brick" if it fails or can I just replace the battery to recover and try again?

@wpatters1229  - It all depends on how you update BIOS. Running the update using SupportAssist inside Windows, or just manually inside Windows is always risky.

Download the BIOS .exe file you want to install onto a 2-GB USB stick (formatted FAT32). Plug that into Inspiron 15-7559 with power fully off. Then plug charger into PC and wall outlet.

Power on and tap F12 when you see the Dell splash screen. When the menu opens, look for an option to Flash Update BIOS. If available, select it and follow the prompts to update. The PC will likely shut down and reboot itself several times during the update. Just leave it entirely alone until you're safely back at the desktop.

If Flash Update isn't an available option. Create a bootable USB stick using Rufus (free) and then copy the BIOS .exe onto the stick. (Making the USB stick bootable will delete all files on it.) Now repeat the steps above to use the F12 menu. This time select USB boot.

When you get to the "DOS" prompt, type in the exact name of the BIOS .exe file on the stick and press Enter. The PC will likely shut down and reboot itself several times during the update. Just leave it entirely alone until you're safely back at the desktop.

There's always a risk any BIOS update will brick a motherboard, but doing it outside Windows via the F12 option is less risky.  Be sure to read all the info about the BIOS update you want to install. Some BIOS updates may require that a specific prior BIOS update is installed first.

In the event of an update failure, your PC might be able to do a BIOS Recovery  Go here and click the Laptop tab to see if your Inspiron 15-7559 has any BIOS Recovery options available.

FWIW, if this PC is currently working ok, and newer BIOS update(s) doesn't fix a problem you're actually having, it may be worthwhile just staying where you are...
