Hardrive problem

Hi im just new to this discussion since I've been a asus user since the start. I would like to ask any recommendations for a compatible hardrive to my laptop Inspiron 3593. Oh and if any of this is useful the error code presented to my laptop is 2000-0142.

Hi Korals:

What is your current Windows operating system [if Win 10 or Win 11 please include the edition (e.g., Home, Pro, etc.), version, and OS build number shown at Settings | System | About | Windows Specifications] and BIOS version [enter msinfo32 in a Run dialog box (Windows + R keys) to open your System Information panel and look for the field named "BIOS Date/Version")? What is the make / model of your current hard drive?

The Dell support article Reference Table of ePSA, PSA Error Codes, and Troubleshooting Steps (2000-0NNN Series) recommends that you first ensure that you have the latest BIOS and hard drive firmware if your F12 ePSA (enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment) hardware diagnostics test displays a 2000-0142 error code. Go to the Overview tab <here> on the support page for your Inspiron 3593, enter your unique Service Tag, and then go to the Drivers & Downloads tab to look for recommended updates for your BIOS and hard drive firmware / drivers. If you aren't sure what firmware version you have you can quickly find this information with a third-party disk utility like CrystalDiskInfo (Standard Edition ** or Clear Disk Info. Both these utilities show that I have the recommended v1041.0106 firmware (rel. 29-Apr-2021) for the Toshibsa 256GB KBG40ZNS256G SSD in my Inspiron 5584, and that the status of my SSD is still good.

** Note: To change the display of your disk attributes in CrystalDiskInfo to easier-to-read integer values go to Function | Advanced Features | Raw Values and change the setting from 16 [HEX] to 10 [DEC].

For detailed information about your hard drive and other hardware components try the free HWiNFO utility (my preferred hardware diagnostic utility).  If I scroll through that data HWiNFO reports my drive Health Status is currently at 90%, which is the same value calculated by CrystalDiskInfo

I'm not a hardware specialist so I'm not qualified to recommend a good replacement hard drive for your Inspiron 3593 (assuming CrystalDiskInfo / Clear Disk Info / HWiNFO find a problem), but someone else might be able to help you if you post in the Inspiron Laptop board of this forum. The Parts & Accessories tab <here> of your support page should also have a list of compatible hard drives under "Storage, Drives & Media" but if your service warranty hasn't expired yet then Dell customer support should be able to replace a faulty hard drive or at least recommend a suitable replacement. If you enter your Service Tag on the Inspiron 3593 page of the Parts-People site at https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=category&id=141&subid=1340&refine=hard+drive you might also find some suggestions there as well.

The drive has failed and needs to be replaced. If it is in warranty, contact Dell for a repair.

If it is out of warranty, the manual for the model tells you how to replace the drive:

There is a small drive for Intel Optane SSD and a SATA HDD.

I'd recommend removing both drives and installing a M.2 TB SSD for example a single 1 TB P3 from Crucial:
