Dell Support Assist - System Repair can not be unchecked
OK, so we just had a thread on this complaint, and I never saw a solution.
There is an check box option under Settings\System Repair labeled System Repair is Turned on, or off if checked. I can check it to turn off, then save and exit the program with no problem. But, when I re-enter Support Assist, it is back on. Other than removing the program, is Dell going to fix this?
In Dell's Support Assist, it seems System Repair is designed to make backups under certain conditions. These backups are hidden files and can be up to 18GB in size! Windows makes Restore points automatically when there is a app or driver installation, and you can make them manually as well before doing any such updating. If concerned enough, one can also edit the registry to create a restore point every time your PC is booted. Most importantly, as compared to Support Assist, I actually have control over deleting any or all them entirely.

Agreed. I have 2 Dell systems (laptop, desktop), and it is an issue with both. So, the problem is definitely with SupportAssist itself.
Additionally ... Most of the time when I launch SupportAssist the System Repair option does not even appear as an option to select. This also needs to be addressed.
Due to the potential for heavy system memory usage, either fix the feature or remove it from SupportAssist.

Here is a screenshot. Even if I select "Yes, I'm sure", System Repair remains on when I go back in to check my settings. As I noted earlier, I have this issue on 2 different Dell systems.

Thanks for posting this.
Using this method allowed me to disable the System Repair feature on both of my computers. In each instance, it freed up about 20GB of disk space.

So, thanks to many inputs from users, not Dell, seems like all here now know how to uncheck/disable Dell's Support Assist's System Repair feature. The flawed software has a checkbox to disable the backups, that for many is inoperative because it also installs an additional sub section within your Win 10 System and Security section, giving the operator no notification to go there to allow disabling. According to many, these backups once deleted, a task which is another issue to actually accomplish for some, frees up much storage space. These and other issues with Support Assist have persisted for several years, with Dell openly acknowledging the issues.
The true question here is, why in this era of advanced PC technology, would this long known and complained about error prone software still be installed by any reputably company? No answer is solicited from Dell.

Yeah, I've had the same problem. The check box within SupportAssist cannot be unchecked, even as an administrator. The only way to turn it off seems to be to use the Control Pannel applet with administrator rights. I made a strongly-worded report to ProSupport that maybe they ought to fix this.

Hi I am having the same problem. SupportAssist keeps on saying that my disk is being analyzed if a system repair point can be created. Is there a script to enable this?
