Remove DVD from XPS 2720 when keyboard button and display buttons do not work
XPS One 2720
Yes, I know the XPS One 2720 is beyond end of life...but it works wonderfully and remains a great back up desktop. Except...I inserted a DVD, it plays but now the disk will not eject. I used file manager, the keyboard button and the illuminated button on the display. None worked. There is no eject hole on the device that I can find.
I reached out to Dell support, and the advice was to buy a new computer. Thanks, but I already did that. This XPS is perfect for me to use as a back up for processing images and videos, or do I hoped.
Hoping somewhere out there some has had success in manually ejecting a DVD. If not, I'll have to revert to brute force...but I'm neophyte techie so I may do more harm than good. Or, I'll have to drop $100 to have a professional tech open it up. The disk that is stuck is contains historic family info that I can not lose!
Hope help is out there somewhere!
Chris

If that is a slot drive, you may have to remove it from the system and then open it up to retrieve the disc. It's time consuming but not that hard.
