Problem with CD-RW Drive

I have become unable to drag and copy files to my CD-RW drive.  When I attempt to drag a file I receive the following message:

Files on this CD-Rom drive are read only.  You cannot copy or move files over to this CD-Rom drive.

I've tried this on previously used discs, that always worked and on new formatted disks.

Since I move around to various clients, I like to carry my client specific files with me and am now unable to do this.

Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the disc has been finalized, or your packet-writing program has been disabled. What burning program are you using?

Well, it got more interesting.  I had been using Easy CD & DVD Burner from Roxio, but each time I ejected a CD, I would get a blue screen and a warning that the computer was shut down, with then lots of other info, that didn't mean anything to me.   I subsequently uninstalled.

After experiencing this problem, I re-installed and was able to solve the drag and copy issue, however I still have the same eject problem, which is obviously related to the Roxio software, but cannot find anything on their site that addresses this issue.

There are known issues running Roxio version 5 with XP SP2. So you might consider an upgrade. The other complication may be due to the use of Drag to disc. If that's installed, try uninstalling it and see if that helps.

I'm actually using version 6, but wasn't aware of the Drag to Disc issue.  If I can figure out how to uninstall only that function, I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the info.
