london14,

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.

The largest drive Dell installed on that system was a 4gig drive so that's all we can recommend.  Let's keep this here and see what others can tell you about drives they might have installed.

I have put a 40GB drive into my GXpro just now, thinking that this would not cause any problems, just let bios autodetect and we will be fine. However, BIOS didn't like this so sometimes when i boot it tells me the disk doesnt exist, sometimes the BIOS thinks the drive is 8GB. All other software on the machine is quite content with this HD (winblows is not installed, so i wouldnt know how it would react). However, the boot is annoying so i decided to look up a solution, first i came here, but decided to look futher. if you upgrade your bios from A08 to A10 the problem should be fixed. I have no way to veryify this because i have never flashed my bios so i dont know if i should flash A08 to A09 to A10 or if i can flash A08 directly using the A10 flash tool.

the urls of both tools are

Could someone answer this simple question.

This bios upgrade has restored my confidence in dell, not that i would buy a dell myself, i would just make my own the next time i need a better computer. Keep up the good work.

You can go directly from A08 to A10. A10 includes everything from A09, A08, etc. if that's what you wanted to know.
