Optiplex 7010 Mini-Tower SSD for boot drive
I read somewhere, can't find it now, that an SSD can be installed into an Optiplex 7010. I looked in my Mini-Tower and can find no screw holes for mounting a 2.5" SSD. I have a Corsair Force3 120GB SSD. Is there a way to install this in the computer? Will be setting it up as the boot drive for Windows 8 Pro that comes with the computer.

There is no securing bracket in the second bay which is empty. Where do I get one of these brackets? I have not seen one on the Dell website.

Hi Alan242,
OptiPlex 7010 Mini-Tower’s hard drive day can support two hard drives or SSD’s of sizes 3.5"/2.5". You have to fix the SSD to the bay using the securing bracket tabs as shown in the picture provided below:
Please let me know if you need further information.

I have a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter that I can use with my SSD. My new Dell computer lacks screw holes in the hard drive cage to mount an adapter. I will need a securing bracket/HDD caddy to use the adapter with. Thanks for your suggestion.

Dell offers a part that comes in several of the newer Optiplex chassis. DPN is R494D. It mounts two 2.5" SSD's on top of each other and clips into the blue drive drive brackets that they use. You can source them from Dell spare parts or externally from Discount Technology:
