new ES1 install

Hello,

i installed es1. I have old emailxtender installation. I connected these two installations. I'm wondering when i say Archive all data older than XX in source one and this data is already archived in EX. Will these messages be archived again in ES1 or they just be skipped as duplicates.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

Messages archived by EX should be shortcutted by EX before cutting over to SourceOne. One should only provide the cut off date in the archive activites otherwise I would expect messages to be archived again if mapped folder with SourceOne Archive is used. We need to remember that SourceOne can only use EX archive folders in read only format. That means nothing could be pushed, all we can do is read.

Messaged in users mailboxes will not have properties tagged (unless they are shortcutted) that means when you run SourceOne Archive and you select an mapped folder for archive (no option for 4.x based mapped folder) you will have to select a mapped folder to an archive which is SourceOne based archive folder. Since that archive folder would not have the same messages then messages will get archived in SourceOne archive.

These are my initial thoughts and one could test on few emails in a users mailbox to see if I am on the right directory (been wrong before).

Thanks,

Rajan

Hello Again.

I tested it and you are right. If mails were archived and shortcutted with EX, ES1 will not archive and shortcut them .

I tested it with same preferences ( mail that is 90 days or older)

Greetings,

Thank you for the confirmation. All you can do to the already shortcutted emails by EX is to upgrade their shortcuts to make them work with universal URL.

Regards,

Rajan
