Create Replication in switchover mode

Hi,

im have a construction of 2 NS-80 in seperate rooms (A+B) with an asynchronous replication.

I did a switchover and from now on Room B is my productive Room and Room A is the destination of my replications (standby)

I know want to create a new replication on an existing filesystem:

Source: Room B

Destination Room A

BUT! i want it to be directly in switchover mode!! So if i go back to normal configuration i dont want it to be in switchover mode.

I looked up a few documents and the forums but cant find a solution.

So to make it a Question:

How do i create a replication session in switchovermode!?

sluetze,

Firstly, welcome to the forums and above all thank you for being an EMC customer.

So you would like to replicate a filesystem originating in Room B (SRC) to Room A (DST) and when you switchover, you don't want it to show as such?  Often switchover is a temporary condition and either replication is restarted in the opposite direction, or, for instance, this is a one time migration then the replication session is deleted if it doesn't need to be protected.

Once switched over, if it needs to be protected, you commonly would perform either of the following (differeing if via the GUI or CLI) issuing it on the DST object or Room A in your example (remember that switchover doesn't change the relationship just brings the DST online without data loss meaning: loaded if a vdm or R/W if a filesystem)

1) If you are performing it via CLI: nas_replicate -start -reverse

2) In the GUI you simply click on "Start"

Both will restart replication in the reverse direction (Room A becomes the new SRC and Room B becomes the new DST).

Keep in mind, if your intention is to bring the DST object online and immediately restart replication in the opposite direction, you can save yourself an extra click in the GUI by simply starting the process with "Reverse" issued from the SRC (Room B).  In other words:

GUI: Switchover (SRC) + Start (DST) = Reverse (SRC)

CLI: "-switchover" (SRC) + "-start -reverse" (DST) = "-reverse" (SRC)

I hope this makes sense, and more importantly I understood what you are trying to accomplish.
