Clone Question

Hello all,

I'm gonna start using Clone feature.

The goal is to clone 1 LUN that contains data in a Windows Fileserver and after the cloned LUN is synchronized, add it to another Server and see the data is Ok.

The question is: Is a must that I need run the admsnap command on the fileservers? Or I can do all the process in Unisphere:

1) Clone LUN 30 (belongs to Server A).

2) Wait for synchronized.

3) Fracture.

4) Assign cloned LUN 30 to SG Server B.

5) Scan disks in Windows in Server B.

Thank you,

Mariano.

You can do everything in Unisphere except for flushing the cache on the server that has read/write access to the LUN you are cloning. Admsnap will flush the server's cache. If you don't want to use admsnpa then follow the exact steps above but before you fracture unmount the disk device from the server. When you perform an unmount everything in cache gets stored on disk. At that point proceed with step 3 and on.
