port5050 RecoverPoint
Hello guys,
I get some messages from firewall for 2 recoverpoint appliances that are in the same cluster and fail to communicate through port 5050.
Does anyone knows what is this port and if i must do something to fix this problem?
Thank you

According to the Security Guide, port 5050 is used for RPA->RPA comms for Symmetrix splitter functionality. What Arrays are you using ?
I'm curious though. If the RPA's are in the same cluster, why is there a firewall between them ?

Hello Brett thank you for your response.
I reply to this email cause I cannot connect to the forum.
I am using VNX5500 disk arrays.
Actually the messages are coming from the Network Firewall that monitors the activity of the machines inside the network.
Can I have access to this security guide? Cause I may need it in the future if I get similar messages for other ports.

Thanks brett.
Another question. I already asked this before about http and https but just to be sure, is there a way to disable this port/service to run since it is only required for symmetrix?

Sure thing. If you are using VNX I think you can safely ignore the message.
I've attached the Security guide for you (V4.1), but you can also get them from support.emc.com

I'm really not sure. I wouldn't have thought it would be in use unless the Sym splitter was added.
Might be a case for support if you really need it suppressed.
