PowerEdge R630 dead can't turn on.

Hello, I have an R630 that will not turn on. The PSU green LEDs are on but no power once so ever when I try to power the unit on. have switched DIMM's and same thing happens. No LED screen light comes on either. And the fans don't work. Also, idrac port that doesn't respond and doesn't light up.

any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

if you have 2 CPU, try one at a time in CPU1 socket, disconnect as many things as possible (except front control panel), try one PSU at a time and 1 dimm only. Dell calls this minimal boot config I blv. if still no power on, its probably dead.

Hello,

Was any work done on it around the time the issue started?

Have any parts added or removed from original configuration?

Have you tried Different power cable and power source?

Let's start with a flea power drain and check results:

drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed). After flea power drain, system has to set for 3 minutes for DRAC to reset without any power plugged in, then plug in NIC and power but wait 2 minutes before power on to give DRAC time to initialize.

Check for power on.

If it does not power on then bring it down to Minimum to post (this is minimum components to POST, it won't boot, this is to test power on and POST. If successful POST, put things back a little at a time until find faulting component).

The minimum components to allow the PowerEdge R630 to complete POST are:

● One processor (CPU) in socket processor 1

● One memory module (DIMM) in socket A1

● One power supply unit

● Left control panel with cable (for power button functionality)

● System board

Remove anything not on that list: DVD, Hard drives, PERC controller, backplane, network card, NIC cable, any pcie cards, keyboard, mouse, USB devices, …. anything not on the list remove. Leave the fans installed.

If it does not POST: Try this test to rule in or out control panel and cable:

In minimum to post configuration disconnect control panel from system board. Keep the lid off of the server. Hold in the rear iDRAC button on the rear for 15 seconds. If it powers on then the issue is with the control panel, the cable or the cable socket.

If it does not power on and post with those test then the issue is with one of those minimum to post components.

If you get successful power on and POST, put things back a little at a time until you find the faulting component.

@DELL-Charles R

Good morning,

Was any work done on it around the time the issue started?

NO

Have any parts added or removed from original configuration?

NO

Have you tried Different power cable and power source?

YES

I did all the procedures, for minimum components to allow the PowerEdge R630 to complete POST but nothing changed. Also, I did the procedures for iDRAC but not working.

What do you think is the problem?

Hello I'm thinking one of the minimum to post components has an issue and needs replacement. The best way might be at this point to contact the local support.
