Dell R620 - alternative memory configuration

i have installed 12x 16gb Ram on a dell R620
Of all the sticks installed 2 dont show up being the ones in , b3 and b4.
Performed all the fault finding to make sure it is the slot and not the ram stick. ( replacing ram between fuctioning slot and non functioning slot as explained in dell support)

Now that im certain that those slot for some reason dont work , the suggested configuration goes out the window.

To mantain the system balanced do i need to remove the ram from slot a3 and a4 ?
If i need to do so , can install those 4 stick of 16gb ram previously in a3 a4 & b3 b4 to to a7 a8 & b7 b8 ?? would it be still balance ?
Or alternatively , is there a way to revive the dimm slot , some trade trick in the sleeve ot field tech, ?

can someone explain how to make informed decision based on this server architecture please thanks:

QUESTION NUMBER 2

i have removed and get rid of a MD1200
i still have installed in the r620 the perc810 but is not longer in use or necessary.
At every boot i get the message that perc 810 lost his raid configuration ,
in bios im unable to change config cause of course the md 1200 is disconnected and i can not apply setting to it
in hardware config in bios - perc 810 cant see any option of help
pressing C i get in another perc config (showing 710 and 810  that doesnt seem to do anythin as well ( probably my ignorance make me say this) .
How can i get rid of those message at boot regarding loosing perc config ???

thanks youuu

Paffo-G,

I am not certain as to why the B3 and B4 dimms aren't showing up. Would you confirm the part number of the dimms you are using, as well as the Memory Mode it is showing? You an see the supported memory configurations for the R620 here on page 44.

As far as the H810, have you tried just removing the controller, since it doesn't sound like you will be needing it?

Let me know.

Hi Chris , thanks for the prompt answer,

however the link you provided is the same as the one i provided in my reference source.

As memory config im using 192gb - 2 processor - 16gb ram stick , populating dimm A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6 B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6

Ram used is Samsung 2Rx4 PC3L-12800R | DDR3-1600MHz RDIMM |

the server internal looks immaculate , i tried different ram stick from functioning dimm slot , and place the stick from non functional dimm in to the functioning one .
doind so should tell me if is the ram stick or the dimm slot , and is definetely the dimm slot the issue not the ram stick as Ram will work on other slot .

BIOS is the latest release , i have also inspected the CPU socket and re sit the CPU, same issue persist.

in BIOS, UEFI , IDRAC ,  it show  B3 and B4 as non populated by any ram stick.

i dont get ANY error messages , i dont get any message saying that ram config is not optimal .

As a test i have also removed ram from A3 and A4 , and doing so instantly trigger the system to reconfigure itself as is not a optimal config , and sugges that i should re populate A3 and A4 befor adding stick to A5 and a6 .. and so on .

this doesnt happen when i perform same test on B3 and B4

Hi,

It seems you have already done most of the troubleshooting, in fact, all the troubleshooting I can think of. I don't have a test unit to check if leaving slot 3 and 4 on both channel can result to the server cannot complete POST. But I do know it will impact performance.
