Multiple Prosphere Applications
Hi,
whats behind the synchronisation of multiple Prosphere Applications?
Is it possible to have 2 prosphere applications, sharing the same discover and historical db maschine instances?
Background, i want to implement a new prosphere app and give special users read access to it. They should only see
there enviroment, nothing else. So my idea, install a new prosphere app and add there only the ressoruces the user should see.
Getting the data from my existing discover appliance and historical db
is that possible?
thanks in advance

Hi Stefan,
whats behind the synchronisation of multiple Prosphere Applications?
Synchronization combines the discovered data from the configuration items (CI) from multiple ProSphere deployments in your environment, such that all the data is available for you to view under a single deployment. Without Synchronization the data is available only under each individual deployment. Synchronization is location agnostic and operates regardless of where the multiple deployments are done across well-connected multiple physical locations or even geographies. ProSphere deployments found within the same data center, multiple data centers, or different geographical locations can be synchronized. With synchronization you can locate CIs and data stored in multiple deployments. However, synchronization does not provide a single view into your database. Synchronization is bidirectional; in the sense two different synchronized applications know each other.
All ProSphere Applications to be synchronized must share the same passphrase, set on the User and Security page. Once set up, automatic synchronization occurs at four-hour intervals. When you synchronize data, you must assign a Master Capacity Application. This allows capacity related data to accumulate on a centralized location across all synchronized ProSphere Applications.
For synchronizing successfully, you need at least two ProSphere deployments present in your environment and all the Applications to be synchronized must share the same synchronization passphrase.
EMC ProSphere Administrators Guide contains information about limitations and other conditions that involve synchronizing multiple deployments.

No this is not possible.
The only available option would be to deploy a fresh deployment of ProSphere, Discover the Arrays, Switches and hosts that you want the user in questions to see. Setup the read only roles for these users (Users and Security > Manage Users) so they can search for topology objects, view maps, object properties, and alerts, change their password, and downloas diagnostic logs.
