Unable to perform Lamp Reset of Dell 2400MP Projector

I have just received a NEW lamp that was ordered from Dell for our 2400MP Projector.  We replaced the Lamp per the instructions and powered on the device to perform the reset.  The projector powers on when we manuver through the menu to LAMP the hours are at 0, when we try to reset and move from No to Yes it immediately goes back to no and is not allowing us to perform the reset.  The Projector then shuts down after about a minute and and the LAMP light comes back on.  I then searched the internet and have tied a Factory Reset - I was able to do that but this is NOT helping the Lamp Reset issue.  ThisLamp was over 300.00 dollars so any advice would be much appreciated.  Thank you
