out of warranty beamer repairs

Dear Dell,

I contacted Dell support for a broken Dell 7700 Full HD beamer.

The retail price of this device is about 3500 euro. We got some discount because we bought 3 of these devices at once. Now the two year warranty is over, there is one with 219 hours of usage on the beamer and a fan broke down. So it gives the overheated light within a few minutes.

I contacted Dell to have it repaired. To put it quite simple. There is no other option then to buy a new 3500 euro beamer for a broken down fan of 25 euro. There is no way to have it repaired. Either you have to have warranty or Dell just says buy a new one and well try to see if we can give you a bit of discount. Is it really your policy you dont accept any repairs on a 3500 euro device?!?

I have to order a new fan (which is custom made for this Dell device by SUNON) from China to repair it myself.
I am really flabbergausted that a company like Dell can get away with this.


If you sell products you ought to offer aftermarket for some years. Not only within the warranty time. That is no service at all! I am really really dissapointed.
